FAQ
Do you offer a free consultation?
Yes. I offer a free 15-minute phone or virtual consultation for new clients. This is a chance to
ask questions, share what you’re looking for support with, and see if we’re a good fit before
booking a full session.
What are your fees?
Individual Therapy: $150 per 50-minute session
Couples Therapy: $175 per 60-minute session
Family Therapy: $225 per 70-minute session
Family therapy involves multiple participants and a systems-based approach, which is reflected
in the fee.
Do you offer virtual therapy?
Yes. I provide secure virtual therapy for clients across Ontario. Virtual therapy allows teens
and adults to access support from the comfort of their home and can be a flexible option for
busy schedules.
Who do you work with?
I work with teens, young adults, and adults, as well as couples and families. My practice is
especially focused on supporting clients navigating anxiety, low mood, identity concerns, cultural
and family stress, life transitions, and relationship challenges.
What issues do you help with?
I commonly support clients with:
● Anxiety and chronic stress
● Depression and low mood
● Teen mental health and school stress
● Life transitions and major changes
● Identity exploration and self-esteem
● Cultural and intergenerational stress
● Relationship challenges and boundaries
● Family and parent–child dynamics
● Emotional regulation and coping skills
● Neurodivergence such as ADHD
What is your therapeutic approach?
My work is collaborative, emotionally focused, and culturally responsive. I integrate
emotion-focused, strengths-based, CBT-informed, and systems-informed approaches to support
emotional understanding, practical coping, and long-term growth.
I pay close attention to how culture, family background, identity, and lived experience shape
emotional well-being and relationships.
Do you offer culturally responsive therapy?
Yes. My practice is grounded in cultural humility and culturally informed care. I recognize
that family roles, expectations, emotional expression, and stressors are often shaped by culture,
intergenerational experiences, and social context. These factors are thoughtfully integrated into
therapy.
Do you provide teen therapy?
Yes. I work with teens and young adults, supporting concerns such as school stress, peer
relationships, family conflict, identity development, emotional regulation, anxiety, and low mood.
Therapy for teens is developmentally informed and may include parent involvement when
appropriate.
What is couples therapy like?
Couples therapy is informed by emotion-focused and Gottman-based principles, with an emphasis on emotional connection, communication, and understanding relationship patterns.
Sessions focus on strengthening emotional safety, improving communication, and building healthier ways of relating.
Are there situations where couples therapy is not appropriate?
Yes. To support safety and therapeutic effectiveness, couples therapy is not appropriate when:
● There is active physical violence, intimidation, or fear in the relationship
● One partner is engaged in an ongoing affair that they do not intend to disclose
In these situations, individual therapy or specialized services may be more appropriate. Referrals will be discussed as needed.
What is family therapy like?
Family therapy is systems-based and culturally informed, focusing on communication, emotional understanding, and complex family dynamics. Sessions may include parents, caregivers, children, or teens, depending on the goals of therapy.
Family therapy may be short-term and goal-focused or offered alongside individual therapy for a child or teen.
How do you screen for couples and family therapy?
Before beginning couples or family therapy, I offer a brief consultation to understand your goals, relationships, and current concerns. Screening may include questions about communication, emotional and physical safety, trust and transparency, family or relationship dynamics, cultural
and intergenerational factors, and major stressors or transitions. This helps ensure therapy is appropriate, safe, and aligned with my scope of practice.
Do you provide court-related or legal services?
No. I do not provide:
● Court-ordered therapy
● Custody or access assessments
● Parental capacity evaluations
● Legal reports or court testimony
● Therapy connected to active legal proceedings
If your situation involves legal matters, I can support you with appropriate referrals.
Do you offer emergency or crisis services?
No. Therapy services are not intended to provide emergency or crisis care, and I am not able to offer real-time crisis intervention outside of scheduled sessions.
If you are in immediate danger or experiencing a mental health emergency, please contact 911, go to your nearest emergency department, or access local crisis services.
Can I contact you in a crisis?
Email, voicemail, and online messaging are not monitored continuously and should not be used for urgent or emergency concerns. If you are in crisis, please use emergency services or local crisis resources rather than waiting for a response.
Do you offer sliding scale or reduced-fee sessions?
Sliding scale availability may be limited. Please inquire during your consultation if this is a
concern.
Is therapy covered by insurance?
Many extended health benefit plans cover psychotherapy or counselling services. Receipts are
provided for insurance reimbursement where applicable. Please check with your insurance
provider to confirm coverage.
